Some general information about Farscape; the characters, the slang and some background.

John Crichton, an astronaut from the present (2000 or thereabouts) is sucked into a wormhole as he is conducting an experiment near Earth in his small spacecraft Farscape 1.

He is thrown into a completely alien part of the galaxy in the middle of a space battle. His ship is damaged and is tractored inside a ship which has just been taken over by renegades. When he wakes up he is amongst a group of aliens from different races all of whom are trying to escape the peacekeepers and return to their homes.

Leviathan

A race of peaceful, unarmed, living ships. Moya, the ship on which our heroes have escaped, is a character in her own right. She has a living symbiont, Pilot, who acts as the interface between Moya and the rest of the crew. Moya was enslaved by the peacekeepers.

Delvian

Race of blue plant based beings. Human in form but anatomically a vegetable. Zhaan is a Delvian high priestess. She was imprisoned by the peacekeepers because of her anarchic behaviour.

Luxan

Powerful race of warriors. Very proud and stubborn. Ka D'Argo is quite a young Luxan but he has a son and has spent many cycles imprisoned by the peacekeepers.

Hynerian

Squat little amphibian look-alikes. Sneeze humoungous quantities of snot when angry and fart helium when nervous. Very money and power conscious like less attractive Ferengi. Rygel is a Hynerian. He was formally the dominar of the Hynerian empire and ruled over 6 billion individuals. The peacekeepers locked him up after a power struggle with one of his relatives lost him the throne.

Sebacean

Human like beings. Aeryn Sun (a peacekeeper prowler pilot) and Gilina (a peacekeeper tech) are sebacean.

Peacekeepers

Galactic mercenaries/hired army. A sebacean military organisation employed by planetary governments to keep order. Widely hated for their ruthlessness and cruelty. They act as army, police force and prison service. All peacekeepers are sebacean but not all sebaceans are peacekeepers. Commander Crais is a PK captain and in series one he is totally pissed off at John Crichton for accidentally ramming his brother's prowler.

Uncharted territories

Region of galaxy not under peacekeeper control and uncharted. Home to countless scum, villains and fugitives including our heroes.

Swearing in Farscape

Frelling - All purpose swear word. Meaning and use are identical to f**cking. These guys swear like true anglo-saxons.

Dren - All purpose equivalent to sh*t.

Prowler

Single person peacekeeper combat ship. Think x-wing fighter only much more macho.

Pulse rifle

Trekkies think compression phaser only much more macho

Farscape 1

John Crichton's dinky little cut down version of a space shuttle.

Time

Cycle - Equivalent to a human solar year

Arn - Roughly equivalent to one hour earth time

Microt - Equivalent to a couple of seconds
